Release Date Summer 2012

Details on just how Dust 514 will implement into the EVE universe have been scarce on the ground but some new information is starting to come out.

The main question on peoples mind has been will it have a monthly charge? and the answer is no! When the game releases in 2012 it will come as a digital download. This has an initial cost which is then transferred into in-game currency that can be spent on upgrades, weapons and vehicles within the game.

The business model for Dust  is novel in that after the initial outlay the player can continue to play for free, but will have the option to buy extra’s. The extras can be purchased using in-game currency which can be earned within the game or if you don’t have the time be bought with real money.

Also coming to light from E3 is how the two worlds will interact with each other. In a sense the Dust 514 players are mercenaries who can be hired by players in the EVE universe (who will remain essentially ship captains) to carry out attacks on planets. The players in Dust can either work for Eve corporations or even start to build their own alliances on the ground and even start to earn money to aid the war machine and build their own planetary bases.

In one very exciting twist it will also be possible for players in a game of Dust 514 to call in orbital strikes that must be ordered in by players in the Eve universe. With cross chat between the PC and console players available and a shared economy this really is a revolutionary game.
