Dishonored is a brand new title being developed by Arkane Studio’s and will be published by Bethesda and should hit the shelves next year. A brand new first person shooter from an impressive creative team including Harvey Smith who was lead designer on Dues Ex. Players will be given the choice to play this from two different approaches. It can be played as a fast paced action packed shooter or they can take a slower stealthier approach.

Dishonored see’s you take on the role of a supernatural assassin, the story is still not something I’m too sure on but after sitting through and impressive talk with the developers at Gamescom  I’m very excited about this title. From what I gleamed the main overarching story is a corrupt politician who is using the rat plague as a ruse to kill people and take their land.

The rats play a big role and are a dynamic character within the game, leaving dead bodies will attract them quite quickly. If you get too close they will attack you or give away your position to guards.

The controls looked quite responsive and a good cover system will mean it has that extra edge. Players can also use a number of powers the main one showcased at the event was the wind blast which would knock people back off their feet. Other powers such as the “Blink power” allows you to teleport over short distances, across roof tops for example and there is even an option to possess a rat and fit through tiny gaps.

The city has been built by Viktor Antonov (the creator of City 17 as seen in Half life). Inspired by London in the 1600 there is a strange mix of old fashioned buildings but with weapons and gadgets mixed with a futuristic twist.

We are looking forward to seeing a lot more about Dishonored as it gets further into its development. If our early look is anything to go by the game is already looking quite polished.
