God of War 3 released on PS3 back in 2010, as with the rest of the series it set the bar in terms of console graphics, but it also managed to be an incredibly fun and brutal experience. While it did fall short of topping GOW2 it was still one of the stand out games of the generation.

As Sony continues to remaster titles rather than work on backward compatibility, it is not a surprise that GOW3 gets the spit polish treatment. What is a surprise is that the package doesn’t include the God of War Collection (so players can play the full trilogy) as it is still coming with a hefty price tag.

GOW 3 is the end of the trilogy and the end of Kratos’ story, while the game does work as a stand-alone product having played the first two games (and the PSP titles) adds a lot to the user’s ability to follow what is happening and to understand the story.

God of War never suffered with poor visuals but yet the boost in performance servers it well. Now running at full 1080P and at 60fps Kratos has never looked better. The game allows for nice visuals by not using locations as anything more than background. Levels are very liner and interactions are kept to a minimum.

Combat was always strong and thankfully they have not messed with this nor the platforming. Gameplay in general is the very same. This really is just a performance boost, but I think it might be aimed more at those who missed out on the PS3.

Overall: Still a top quality game that plays as well as it always did, it now looks and performs better than ever however this really is just for the players who missed out the first time around as you would need to be a serious God of War fan to shell out a top dollar price for a game not that different from the PS3 version.
