Is There a New Tekken Game On The Way?

One game that was notably absent from Namco’s line-up was their signature brawler, Tekken.
Truth be told, this is one franchise that everyone at Bone-idle was hoping to get a glimpse of, being big fans of the Iron Fist Tournament ourselves.
Sadly, the only footage we saw was a brief snippet of Tekken Revolution, their free-to-play downloadable title, and a new mobile game called Tekken Card Tournament.

Now, while the franchise as a whole rarely disappoints, these are fairly light-hearted entries from the sound of it. Tekken Card Tournament is a new title for Android and iOS and, as the title implies, it will be a card based battle game. It looks good for a mobile game, and is “really addictive”, according to one representative.
Similarly, Tekken Revolution has already been released, but Namco stress that they want to expand on this title a little further. They are very eager to introduce Tekken to new audiences, and they felt that Tekken Revolution, with its very agreeable price tag, was the way to do that. This will probably take shape as new DLC that will be announced quite soon.

When we get a moment to speak to some Namco executives, we asked the big question: Is there a new Tekken on the way?
With a phenomenally well-adjusted poker face, the executive in question responded with “I can’t say”.

This was pointedly not a denial, and suggests that a new project might very well be brewing. The last big Tekken release was Tekken Tag Tournament 2, back in 2012, which got a lot of positive reviews.
The question is, will this next release be the long gestating Tekken X Street Fighter, or will it be the eagerly awaited Tekken 7?
Or will it be something entirely different, maybe a remastered game?

Hopefully Namco will announce something soon and put our minds at rest!
