Good news for Irish gamers today as Onlive (Cloud Gaming Service) has officially launched here, along with roll outs in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway. Onlive offers you the ability to play console quality games on a host of devices. On the Onlive Micro Console, via the Onlive app on PC’s, Smart TV’s, Tablets and mobile devices. Games like Batman Arkham Asylum, Dark siders, F1 and Bioshock are all now playable on most modern smart phones with many games using touch controls but the better option is to use the wireless controller.

OnLive, the leader in cloud gaming, today confirmed that the OnLive® Game Service will be made available in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Ireland, enabling full account sign-ups and access to OnLive’s CloudLift™ and PlayPack™ subscriptions. Currently the OnLive Game Service is commercially available in the USA, Canada and the UK.
“Since day one we’ve seen a sizeable chunk of traffic from these regions because of their great connectivity and engaged gamer community,” said Bruce Grove, OnLive’s General Manager. “That interest has continued to grow, and we’ve completed the network operations necessary to deliver full services in these regions. Expect more announcements in the very near future.”
The OnLive subscription packages, which now feature over 300 console-quality action-adventure, FPS, strategy, simulation, MMO, racing and sports titles, will be charged in Euros and PayPal has been added as an additional service-wide payment method.
OnLive accounts are free to set up and include a free 7-day trial. OnLive’s PlayPack subscription includes a library of over 250 games that can be played anywhere on virtually any connected device and costs €7.95 per month. The new CloudLift subscription costs €5.95 per month and enables users to play the latest digital PC games and big-name MMOs from multiple devices, instantly, without having to download them, and at the same time leveraging the power of OnLive’s gaming servers. The OnLive Games Bundle subscription combines both offerings for a discounted price of €9.99 per month.
Since its launch in 2010, OnLive has powered premium-quality gaming via the cloud on nearly any Mac or PC computer and a wide range of thin-client devices, including lightweight laptops, tablets, smart phones and HDTVs—platforms that would normally lack the processing power and memory to run graphics intensive games and other applications. At IFA in September, Europe’s leading consumer technology event, OnLive also announced a partnership with Philips that now sees the OnLive app pre-installed on the new range of ‘Powered by Android’ TVs, allowing the latest games to be played in the living room, directly from the TV by simply connecting a controller.
