This year didn’t see the usual buzz that Pro Evo normally creates perhaps it was down to the last 3 utterly shocking next gen versions. Or the reported 50% final build that was released as a totally underwhelming demo why they did that I still don’t understand. But Pro evo 2010 slipped onto the shelves in late Oct and quite surprisingly it’s good!
Konami have started from scratch and done a total new build and it shows straight away. The match speed has been slowed down to give the game back its Sim feel. Player likeness isn’t just restricted to facial features players now run and act like their real life counterparts.
The game engine is a lot better passing has been improved and is needed to gain the edge. Gone are the mazy runs beating 3 or 4 players and scoring from 30 yards. Now to create a chance you have to be a lot more cunning.
The major improvement is the master league they have finally ditched the points system in favour of real money. So now you have to balance players and staff wages transfer fees gate receipts and sponsorship deals. The transfer system has also been given a overhaul you still don’t have enough control over the deals as you just choose the player then you coach works out the contract which in many cases is nowhere near what they are worth with players worth ½ million looking for £8million in transfer fees. But it is a massive bonus over the old points system.
A fully licensed champion’s league makes an appearance this time around and has been integrated into the master league to give an extra competition to take part in.
A welcome return to form for the old master and finally a decent next gen version for all of us who have been waiting for a proper footy game on the next gen machines.
