Leap Motion is an interesting concept that has now become a reality. It allows you to control what is on your screen in a whole new way.

Like most you have gotten used to touch screen controls, swiping, pinching and scrolling so a lot of the controls will be very natural to the user even if they are doing them in midair.

Leap Motion with the help of its tiny controller (only around 3”long) allows you to control your on screen items with a wave of your hand, a point of your finger and even further you can reach and grab in 3D.

The cool thing is this will work with your current set up offering amazing levels of precision with its ability to track movement as tiny as 1/100th of a millimeter. The controller works in conjunctions with your mouse and keyboard not as a replacement but offers a level of control and interaction like never before.

The Leap motion works with a whole host of different apps and software but we got our first taste with the game Blue Estate which is based on the comic book series. This first person shooter is a stylish on rails shooter.

You control it by pointing at the screen with your finger in what many might say mimics kids playing cops and robber shouting pew pew! You aim, shoot and reload with your hand and the Leap Motion controller will recognize it and pass it instantaneously to the game.

It is a little strange but a lot of fun. It worked incredibly well in our short hands on and the possibilities are endless. Especially in design software, if you ever felt like you wished you could just reach in an control what was on screen this might be an option for you.
