E3 – Splinter Cell:Blacklist

In one of the more surprising (and yet familiar) moves by a publisher in the E3 conference, the splinter cell franchise has received something of a revamp. In the demo shown today at the Microsoft conference, gone were the slow and stealthy moves of the previous Splinter Cell games and a new, action packed, adrenaline fuelled version of the franchise was shown. In one of the more spectacular moves, we see Sam launch himself from behind a door,

take down 3 enemy grunts  before running into a melee kill afterward.

Now thats not to say that there isn’t some nice stealth type moves. The wire cam makes another appearance but one of the nicer features showcased today is the ability to “call” enemy soldiers using kinect to draw them towards you. Used beautifully in the game to draw an enemy towards the edge of the roof, its a nice embrace of the current gen technology.

Ubisoft’s trailer did nothing to show that there will be stealth elements to the game also, but if action is what you are after, its possible the Splinter Cell could be the new franchise for you.
