Fifa on the Vita and the best version to date?

Any new console would not be complete without the world’s bestselling football franchise making an appearance and the addition of the pin point accuracy delivered by the touch controls give this version the edge despite the small omissions.

Fifa Vita still boasts all the real names and kits from all the top teams that you would expect from any FIFA title but lacks a few of the features its larger counterpart and only manages 1 V 1 online.

Fifa vita is built entirely on the brand new engine but some small sacrifices had to be made in the port to the smaller handheld mainly the real time physics engine didn’t make it across but the players still impact quite realistically it is just not quite as natural as it could be.

Fifa has appeared on many handheld machines but they have also seen huge drops is quality, the Vita on the other hand offers the opportunity for the handheld market to experience Fifa with the full quality seen on a console.

The touch controls are a revolution though, the front screen offers the chance to pick pin point passes, especially through balls with a press on the screen. Now playing defence splitting passes is far more natural, never again can you blame the midfielder for picking the wrong pass it is all up to you now.

Shooting also gets the touch control treatment but this time utilising the near pad. This rectangle maps out the goal posts so tapping the top right or bottom left will put your shot in the respective corner. The length of the finger press along with the players own ability and positioning all come into play when determining the accuracy of the shot.

The game does contain lots of the game modes that have made the game such a success including the career modes (manager, player and player manager) along with the excellent pro and legend modes giving the player the best of both worlds. This game is easy to pick up and play for ten minutes which is perfect for the handheld market but if you do want to spend longer playing it has the longevity of the full game offering full seasons and plenty of competitions to take part in.

Overall : Fifa on the Vita is one of the most enjoyable Fifa games to date, the touch controls give it an extra level of control and interaction never seen before.  The missing features from the console version don’t really matter as the comprehensive list of playing options included is quite amazing.

Definitely one of the best and most enjoyable of the launch titles on Vita.
