Golf mania is a very entertaining Mini and one that packs in a huge amount of content when you think about the size restrictions involved in putting out a mini title.

The game itself is not golf as you might think but rather mini golf, you will take on all manner of well laid out courses. In fact it consists of 10 courses each with 9 holes. Each course becoming more challenging and imaginative as you progress. You start out having just the classic courses unlocked and you must complete these on or below par to unlock the remaining courses and different ball types.

The controls are easy to grasp you really just place the ball point in a direction and choose the power then hit it. The difficulty comes in trying to work out the best route to take to try and get the ball in the hole in the least amount of shots.  The power bar is set before taking a shot rather than an often used method of holding X for the required length of time.

The level of difficulty soon starts to ramp up and the game takes on a different persona, it is less a test of golfing skill but rather a complex puzzle game that requires precision and skill as well as a lot of forward thinking.

It can often be frustrating though trying to position the camera angle to get a good look at what you a faced with and often the courses require some trial and error before you can master them. Thankfully you can retry any of the courses and it will use your best score.

Overall : This is a basic looking game but one that offers a lot in terms of entertaining game play and longevity for a small price.

Golf Mania is available from the PSN Mini’s store and will play on a number of different platforms from the PSP, The PS3 and the PSVita.

SCORE 8/10
