She’s The One Music Video
Up-and-coming music producers an friends of Bone-idle, Kick-Ass Trainers have created their debut music video for pop song ‘She’s The One’ entirely in LittleBigPlanet 2 for the PlayStation 3.
The London-based crew have used Sackboys as their main characters in a tongue-in-cheek music video that sees the main sackboy driving a supercar, going to a nightclub, taking a sackgirl out on a date and even taking to the big stage for some synchronized dancing!
The Kick-Ass Trainers boys cite their upbringing as the reason for choosing to make a music video out of videogames:
“We grew up with the SNES, the MegaDrive, the N64 and the PlayStation so it just feels right for our first video to feature one of the things that massively influences our music. It’s such a cliche to make a music video about fast cars, girls, clubs and video screens but we thought it would be really funny to recreate that cliche in Little Big Planet. It was tough though. Making a supercar that didn’t look like a box took AGES!”
We did a bit of investigating and discovered that one member of Kick-Ass Trainers is actually Chandra Nair, who used to be the editor of Future Publishing’s Official Nintendo Magazine for 3 years. We asked Chandra whether we can expect to see any more videogame-based videos in the future. He had this to say: “We would LOVE to make all our videos out of videogame footage. Publishers tend to get funny about the context in which you use their games though… but as long as the politics and paperwork doesn’t stop it being fun we’ll keep doing it. LittleBigPlanet 2 is such an amazing tool though, once you figure out how it works. As long as you’re sneaky with your cameras you can make pretty much anything! Sony and MediaMolecule have been great about it too.”
