Long before digital hand held mobile devices we use to take a piece of paper fold it into a rough 3D diamond shape, turn the teacher’s desk into a make shift rugby pitch and proceed to flick the paper ball over temporary goal posts with great delight. Spot Kick Heroes is essentially the modern version.

With its colourfully realised kicking scenario’s from three of the top ball games in the world, Football, Rugby and American Football. The idea is quite simple you are faced with kicking the ball either over or under the cross bar depending of course on which sport you are playing.

The different variations of difficulty come in the form of kicking angle and wind speed and direction. The player has to not only be able to flick the ball through the goal posts but must also anticipate the wind and the effect it will have on the flight of the ball. A strong wind can blow the ball way off course so often what looks like a shot that will sail wide of the mark just catches the wind correctly and curves back in through the posts.

The game play is quite easy to pick up, you have on the screen your player getting ready to kick the ball and the ball. You simple touch the ball then flick your finger in the direction and with the force required to complete the kick at goal.

Although it is quite a simple idea it is infectious and addictive. It is the perfect title for when you are stuck on a bus and want a game to waste five minutes but with three different game modes including tournaments and mini games it’s not long until you realise that you have been playing for the full hour bus journey and never notice the time flashing by.

It’s basic but it’s clean and responsive and for €0.79 it is well worth the money.
